Wayne McGregor, the Technological Choreographer

Wayne McGregor is one of the trendiest choreographers on
the British and international dance scenes. He splits his
time between his own troupe and The Royal Ballet of
London where he is resident choreographer. McGregor’s
choreography has been described as “cybernetic” on
account of the way it interacts with technological elements;
the choreographic elements themselves are easily
recognizable because they reveal a dystonic vision of the
human body, seen as a reflection of the fragmented
and chaotic world in which we live. Elisa Guzzo Vaccarino
has interviewed this “electronic choreographer”
and discusses his creative process below. Yet not
everyone admires McGregor unconditionally, as we shall
see from Clement Crisp’s review of his latest work for
The Royal Ballet
