Contemporary with a human angle in Lyon

Or rather, a truly international contemporary kind of dance, not
in the least bit provincial or unrealistic. The Lyon Opera
Ballet, as envisaged so clearly by its director Yorgos Loukos, strikes
a balance between those features of French “nouvelle danse” that
are still thriving and the markedly eclectic (including “post-classic”)
trends of world dance. Anyway, the company’s real star remains
Maguy Marin’s “faceless” Cinderella (our cover photo)
