Paul Taylor, the elegance and solitude of the last of the “moderns”

The Paul Taylor Dance Company is celebrating its
60th birthday with a “Diamond Tour”. Its first portof-
call in Europe was at Spoleto in July with an
“avant-garde retro” programme. But the doyen of
world choreography is getting ready to give his
dancers a new creation in the autumn (his second this
year). And, at age 84, he remains in everyone’s eyes
the “Bad Boy” of modern dance…
